He will then mark each nest’s position and apply the direct nest injection technique, using a long probe to inject chemicals for complete nest elimination. In addition, a low toxicity insecticidal sand is scattered around the area.

Following treatment, we provide a comprehensive service report detailing the number of nests treated and the name and quantity of chemicals applied.  We also manage all required biosecurity documentation with the National Fire Ant Eradication Program to ensure regulatory compliance.

Under the Biosecurity Act 2014, all Queenslanders have a General Biosecurity Obligation (GBO) to manage any biosecurity risks and threats. This includes making sure Fire Ant nests are treated and efforts are made to stop their spread.

Biosecurity officers conduct compliance checks to make sure that businesses and individuals are complying with the rules outlined in the Biosecurity Regulation 2016. There can be penalties if you don’t comply.

What happens when a fire ant nest is disturbed?

When a fire ant nest is disturbed, a large number of ants will aggressively swarm out to defend their colony, releasing alarm pheromones to attract more ants and sting anything they perceive as a threat. The ants will sting repeatedly, causing a painful burning and itching sensation, and may even raise pustules.
